Abstract:

A new technology called Wireless Mesh Network is extending wireless Internet access to "hot zones" that go far beyond the range of popular WiFi hot spots. With the ability to provide secure wireless coverage both indoors and outdoors throughout an urban area or large campus, Wireless Mesh Network can provide various high speed wireless access services, such as data, video and voice, for carrier service providers, enterprises, and municipalities.Nortel was awarded in the late 2004 for Taipei City and Kaohsiung city projects to build the city wide broadband wireless access network by the Wireless Mesh Network solution. In this presentation, Nortel’s Wireless Mesh Network solution will be reviewed, and the Taipei and Kaohsiung cases will be studied.
