Mr. Didier Boivin, VP
of Marketing, Centillium Communications |
Abstract
As high-definition TV (HDTV) continues to make its way to the mainstream market,
broadband’s role in the delivery platform for such applications as HD IPTV and
SDTV has generated much discussion and debate on technology choices. The
evolution of bringing these applications to the masses has a direct influence on
network topology, the need for convergence of various broadband technologies by
equipment manufacturers as well as the impact on requirements for System on Chip
(SoC) companies.
This session will
take a look at the issues and challenges that the broadband industry faces and
discuss solutions that will help bring the services, distribution of services
and quality of experience of HDTV applications to the consumer market:
What home gateway
broadband technology is ideal for the HDTV scenario?
What are the network
topology, content and service provider considerations to bring this application
to market?
How do other “triple
play” applications in the voice, video and data arena impact the HDTV platform?
