Abstract
This presentation will review the principal network architectures and their
typical migration and upgrade paths required, to allow the delivery of
triple-play services over Internet Protocol (IPTV / Video, Voice / VoIP, High
Speed Internet). Important parameters required to insure the delivery of user
required Quality of Service (QoS) for triple-play services will also be
reviewed. Real life network impairments affecting the QoS of these services will
be addressed.
Best practices for testing,
monitoring & troubleshooting these flaws, in the transport and access segments
of the network, will be shared. Particularities of the technological dimension
will be examined but also the business case dimension. The business case
dimension will present best practices allowing operation expense (OPEX)
reductions, without affecting QoS in the IP services delivery.
